Product Description
This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new condition. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes.

Ready to use straight out of the box, the Bostitch MFN200 factory-reconditioned 2-cleat manual flooring cleat nailer, comes along with a rubber mallet. Simply unpack, load, and strike to nail down and construct stable flooring. Ideal for the DIYer as well as the professional installer, this power cleat nailer drives 1-1/2- to 2-inch nails with minimal effort.

Gun it on hardwood or engineered floors and set the tongue-and-groove joint right for once and for all. The long-reach handle of this cleat nailer enhances the comfort. You need not bend every time to strike this nailer. The sturdy aluminum construction makes Bostitch MFN200 endure jobsite abuse. The Bostitch MFN200 assures a jam-free operation and lets you smoothly nail an L-shaped serrated nail at every strike. The rubber bumper prevents the flooring from any sort of damage, leaving it neat and spotless. With a magazine capacity of 200 cleats you are freed from the effort of frequent reloading. The 9.5-pound cleat nailer is lightweight, can be easily ported at the job site, and stably drives a nail through 3/4-inch hardwood flooring. Includes: MFN200 cleat nailer and rubber mallet.

5 out of 5 stars Reconditioned is the way to go   July 17, 2008

I am a do-it-yourselfer who decided to put hardwood flooring in the living and dining rooms. Point one, I way underestimated how long it would take. I rented an air compressor and air assisted nailer from Home Depot for a total of $95 for one day and was disappointed in how little progress I made (it goes slower than you think).
For the price of renting a nailer for one day this side nailer is yours to keep forever, which means take as long as you want and don't worry about getting back to the rental store on time. Generally speaking a factory reconditioned unit is given a good quality check before it is released and I had only one problem with this tool and it was one I caused myself by double nailing in the same hole that caused a nail to jam in the chute. The plate and spring mechanism was easily taken apart, jam cleared and back to work. The jamming was my fault. The gun works smoothly, it comes with a hammer. There was one small nick on the one I received indicating it was previously used but at the price comparison of recon vs. new that was not an issue. Even if you are not sure what you are going to do with a side nailer in your tool collection after you have finished the flooring job, the price of buying factory recon vs. rental makes it worth while.

This item looked and performed like a brand new one. We had no problems using it. The metal side of the mallet is angled so that it is easy to tap the board into place without damaging the face. Hitting the plunger both drives a cleat and snugs the board up to the previous row. Even slightly curved boards straighten up without prying if you use a firm swing.

We installed about 1100 square foot of 3/4" cypress tongue and groove on our floor. This item was indispensable. We used cleats that we picked up at lowes for about $15 a box. We used 3 1/2 boxes of FLN200 qty 1000, placing a cleat at least every 8".

If you pull out the cleat feeder bar at the back of the tool, you an use the tool on the second row from the starting wall. (5.25 inch boards) The cleats are heavy enough to feed themselves. Because of the space needed to swing the mallet, I had to use a regular hammer and nails starting at the 2nd to last row.

The tool is symmetrical, so it works just as easily for lefties.

5 out of 5 stars Good Product for Those Strong Enough To Use It   March 15, 2010

You need at least, the strength, and eye and hand coordination necessary to drive framing nails to use this tool. If you can't do this, consider a pneumatic nailer instead. The Tool is rugged and well designed. It is designed for 3/4" flooring and is non-adjustable. I found that I could nail within 6" on the nail-feeding side, and 14" on the driving side. You will need to manually nail within those bands near walls. Also, I placed a plywood sheet on the wall or slider when I was swinging the hammer close on that side. On the positive, this was the first floor I installed. I used Bostich 2" hardwood cleat nails, which worked very well with few splits. We now have a 3/4" teak floor in our kitchen and everyone is happy with the outcome!

5 out of 5 stars Worth considering   August 17, 2008

If you don't have an air compressor and you are considering renting a compressor and floor nailer to install flooring, you may be better off purchasing a reconditioned nailer. For about the same price as a one day rental you can own a nailer which means you can take your time installing the flooring and move at your own speed. It took much longer than I thought it would take to install the flooring: I rented a nailer & compressor for the first day, purchased a reconditioned Bostitch nailer and 1) saved money, 2) reduced stress, 3) eliminated trips to the rental store. Even if you are wondering what are you going to do with a floor nailer in your tool collection when finished, it is still a good deal as the reconditioned piece I purchased was in very good physical shape, worked fine, was less than half the price of a new one, and for me cheaper than renting. One time I jammed it by double nailing (my fault) and it was easy to unscrew the plate and clear the action.
This reconditioned unit is a good deal.

5 out of 5 stars Bostitch flooring nailer   October 18, 2008

The tool is exactly as described in A-1 condition. I've used it for several hours and it performs as expected. The shipping was to take five days and it took four days to arrive. I've trained several volunteers in the use of the flooring nailer and we are replacing two levels of flooring at our historical site, Motor Mill, faster than I expected.

Thanks, JdN
