Product Description
The New Striker® Carbide Utility Score is The Preferred Way To Cut Fiber Cement Siding Eliminates Creating Fiber Cement Dust The new Striker® Carbide Utility Score allows easy scoring and snapping of a variety of materials, and is the preferred, safe method for cutting carcinogenic fiber cement siding (Hardie® Board). The Striker® Carbide Utility Score features a sharp v-shaped carbide scoring tip designed to scribe deep and wide cuts with minimal force into fiber cement siding, backer board, roofing, linoleum, laminates, plastics, and glass. Though it won't replace gang cuts of siding with saws, by using the Striker® Carbide Utility Score, contractors and installers can safely cut fiber cement indoors and in tight or remote areas, such as on scaffolding, without creating dust. Additional features include a crosscut file located along both sides of the hardened steel blade, allowing the user to smooth out any rough edges, and often eliminating the need to pull out a file or rasp. Serrations along the blades top edge create a notching saw that makes quick work when cleaning out corners around plumbing, junction boxes, and HVAC openings. The tool also features a striking cap at the end of its sleek, ultra-light aluminum handle that acts like a hammer to allow the user to knock out cut pieces and set siding nails to the correct depth. The folding blade and removable pocket clip means the tool fits easily on a belt or in a pocket or pouch. The new Striker® Carbide Utility Score also has a thumb stud to safely open and close the blade, and a spring steel lock to securely lock the blade open or closed the blade folds completely inside the body of the tool. A designed-in thumb rest supports and adds comfort to the thumb and hand to reduce user fatigue.

I am siding a large two story building with Hardieplanks. The striker tool is the 1st tool I grab when I get a chance to put up some siding. The process of scoring and cutting with this tool is very easy, and the subsquent clean up of the cut is quick and easy. I highly recommend this tool.

This incredible tool lived up to all the video & written hype. I had to cut 4' x 8' sheets of Hardie Board for skirting around an insulated foundation. Knowing that fiber-cement board creates massive amounts of dust when cut with a saw, I was looking for a better and cleaner way to cut the panels. This scoring tool is the only way to go, it was just like scoring drywall and snapping it. The Carbide Utility Score tool was very easy & quick to use, heavy-duty, and well worth the price.

4 out of 5 stars Great Idea! Although a little short of the Hype.   August 30, 2009

I bought two of these tools prior to starting a siding project on a building about the size of a modest single level home. I saw myself scoring and snapping the Hardie Plank siding and avaoiding all the nasty dust associated with cutting the planks with a saw. For us it just wasn't practical to score and snap the planking. The snap is just not clean enough for butting the planks, no real fault of the tool, it's just that the material doesn't snap that clean, and yes we tried scoring it multiple times. What is GREAT about the tool is that is well designed, has a nice clip to keep it handy, and with it's files designed into the blade sides and edges it was FANTASTIC for cleaning up all those cut outs and well worth the price and then some. The tip is still sharp as can be after dozens and dozens of scores, and it will go into the tool box with the indespensible siding gauges for the next siding project.

I just started using this product this past weekend. With multiple scores on the front and back of the Hardiplank siding it is easy to snap and definitely provides a cleaner, straighter cut than with a circular saw.

4 out of 5 stars Knife or weapon? Works either way!   July 22, 2010

I've used it on two bathroom projects, and a pond waterfall. All required concrete board. This tool was great. Scores, saws. scrapes, trims. Really handy, and did not dull. My only complaint is the handle. Hard to hold with wet or sweaty hands.
